"Barnacle Scarf"

--just finished this quick one last night

materials | Lion's Brand wool ease (emerald green/black-brown)

and 100% wool in black. Novelty black "fake fur" yarn added in uneven stripes.

Black sequins and plastic seed beads hand-beaded.

Mac photo booth documentation, so color quality is a bit off,

but here's the shape of it.

I began with a 1x1 rib, then moved stitches into a 2x2, then began my increases

(and later decreases) within the purl section of the rib.

Beaded to help better fade the color change.

the archaeology of a dress.

a Victorian dress decorated with 1,000 REAL BEETLE WINGS is set to go back on display following 1,300 hours of painstaking conservation work carried out by a team led by Zenzie Tinker.

The emerald and sea green gown, covered with the iridescent wings of the jewel beetle (which they shed naturally), was worn by Ellen Terry, one of the most celebrated and glamorous actresses of the Victorian age when she thrilled audiences with her portrayal of Lady Macbeth at London’s Lyceum Theatre in 1888.

It was one of the most iconic and celebrated theatre costumes of the time (and it was crocheted!!, immortalised by the John Singer Sargent portrait now on display at the Tate Gallery.

work in progress..

Here are a few photos documenting a bit of my process, as I work towards making

this little wet-felted top. I only have the front completed so far. Today I will work on

the shape/felting of the back panel, and attach both front and back at the shoulder

with needle felting. I wished to make something real native, again, thinkin'

about my photoshoot with Ali. So, I think I will leave this piece open at the

sideseam, with maybe a lace-up detail on each side... we will see!

Close up texture photo. You are able to see bits of matter left behind

in my wool roving. I left most of it in, and just needle felted clean roving

over top to decrease the visibility.

Clean cut edges, and needle felted touch ups. Also, I believe the beading is

about 3/4 of the way finished (after four days of work..). I'd like to add a bit

more of the turquoise/copper color combination.

Long time favorite, though I've never actually seen the music

video until just tonight... & of course, I'm noticing this nice cardigan ricky's

got on heheh... real cool, rings on every finger too

finished a new sweater this week!

Mixed materials, I've been trying to use up some yarn I have laying around

my place, while I still have some down time. It's a multi-color knit using

floats to create the pattern, also some bobbles for fun. I like kinda like these sleeves too hehe
